Weekend Hygiene Operative Location: Wythenshawe, Manchester Schedule: Saturday & Sunday, 6am – 6pm £12.78 Per Hour
Are you someone who takes pride in high standards, doesn’t shy away from hard work, and understands the importance of hygiene in food manufacturing? We’re looking for a Hygiene Operative to support our weekend team and help maintain a safe, clean, and compliant production environment.
About the Role
As a Hygiene Operative, you’ll play a vital role in keeping the factory operating to top standards by carrying out daily and weekly cleaning tasks, primarily in High Care. You’ll be responsible for dismantling machinery, deep cleaning, and ensuring all hygiene and safety processes are followed precisely.
You’ll be part of a team that works across departments to maintain hygiene standards, prevent listeria risks, and ensure the safe production of food products. The work can be physically demanding, but it’s essential, valued, and genuinely rewarding.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out scheduled cleaning tasks across production and hygiene areas
- Dismantle and reassemble production lines for deep cleaning (manual handling involved)
- Conduct weekly deep cleans and ensure compliance in High Care zones
- Follow company procedures for food safety, hygiene, and health & safety
- Maintain cleaning equipment and PPE, reporting any faults immediately
- Monitor and replenish cleaning materials stock levels
- Handle cleaning chemicals safely and responsibly
- Promote the ‘One Team’ approach by supporting other departments where needed
- Report incidents, risks, or concerns to your Team Leader or Manager
- Take on additional reasonable tasks as required by management
What We’re Looking For
We’re after someone with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a can-do attitude. Previous experience in a hygiene or cleaning role within food production is ideal, but not essential.
- Food Safety Level 2
- High attention to detail
- Good communication skills
- Reliable and proactive
- Previous experience working in hygiene or food production
- Knowledge of COSHH and safe chemical handling
- Understanding of High Care environments
